The fine rain drizzles, the streets are empty and silent, with only a few scattered umbrellas moving slowly. The news of Ethereum's plummet flashes on my phone screen, and my account balance is down to three digits. The desolation outside intertwines with my own downfall.
I am filled with unwillingness; how did I end up in such a situation? From a problem-solver in a small town, I got into Wuhan University, then pursued my master's at the University of Hong Kong, giving my all at every step. Yet now, I find myself with nothing.
Last year, I quit my job, diving into the cryptocurrency field with 200,000 yuan I had saved over a year and a half. At first, everything seemed great. I monitored the market daily, researched projects, and analyzed trends, feeling freer than at work, after all, I was fighting for myself. During that time, I made some money and made a group of friends, all exploring and sharing opportunities together.
From the beginning of the year to the end, I was doing well, accumulating over 1 million yuan in profits, but I never withdrew any. By December, I struggled to keep up with the fierce market competition and judged that altcoins were about to explode, so I decided to bottom-fish BOME. I fantasized about replicating last year's PEPE miracle, buying from 0.008 all the way down to 0.003, but the crash this morning directly led to my liquidation. In fact, the leverage I used wasn't high, less than 3 times.
I bet everything, yet still lost it all.
The most ironic part is that after returning home, I urged my parents to bottom-fish as well, having them buy $bome starting from 0.004 and averaging down to 0.003, which has nearly halved by today. It's one thing for me to lose money, but dragging my parents down with me is truly a sin, sigh.
This year has been like sitting on pins and needles; every day I open the exchange to see my account shrink, and I lack the confidence to explain my work to friends and family. Clearly exhausted every day, yet I neither made money nor found life easy, and I faced ridicule from relatives saying, "After studying so much, you still don't have a stable job."
I am genuinely curious, who can still make money on exchanges? Coins that have dropped 5 times can drop another 4 times, and they crash 4-5 times as soon as they go online? In this situation, can anyone really make money?
My feelings are exceptionally complex, filled with unwillingness yet also confusion and helplessness. I feel like I've tried my best, yet the results are always unsatisfactory. Those goals that once ignited my passion now resemble paper soaked in rainwater, blurred and unclear. I don't know where to go in the future, nor do I know if I can regain my strength.
